“Somatic flow”

“Returning to my first home and utilising the movement of falling to capture what I deem as trace.

I am researching somatics as a methodology within my research. Currently focusing on my own physical movement as well as the movement that potentially I cannot see. Although creating work mainly about my hidden disabilities I am also considering the invisible movement. Although invisible, what if it was given a body?”

“More from my series exploring somatic movement and trace.

You may recognise this bridge, I’d argue it’s one of Ipswich’s landmarks. To many it represents connection, travelling, fear, concrete or simply Ipswich. To me it reminds me of the many who didn’t go home.

I’m reminded of summers spent swimming, crabbing, getting covered in mud. The time a lucozade bottle exploded on my sister. The smell of salt and fish. Not forgetting the seaweed throwing fights. “
